Monument to Great Marius Petipa to Appear in Petersburg

Monument to the outstanding Russian choreographer, ballet dancer and teacher Marius Petipa will be set up in Saint Petersburg.

The idea of creating such a monument has long been in the air, the initiator of this event, Peoples Artist Farukh Ruzimatov says. According to him, it is quite strange and unjust that so far neither in Petersburg nor in other ballet capitals there is a moment to this great ballet master.

All interested are welcome to take part in the competition for the best sculpture project. The exhibition of competitive projects will open on April 29, International Dance Day.

The future sculpture will be set up in Ostrovsky Square, by the entrance to the Theatre Museum.
