Exhibition open in Anna Akhmatova Museum marks the 70th anniversary since the death of prominent Russian poet Osip Mandelstam who challenged the Soviet totalitarian regime with his poetry.
The Fountain House (A. Akhmatova Museum) presents photos of the poet, his family and friends, a manuscript excerpt of Mandelstam’s article on Pyotr Chaadayev, posters of his poetry performances, documents related to Voronezh exile of the poet, who was accused of anti-Soviet activities, and his untimely death in hospital barracks in Vladivostok.
Exquisite lyricist and virtuoso of poetic word, Osip Mandelstam was only 47 years old.
