The State Museum Reserve Tzarskoe Selo launches restoration of Alexander Palace, the last residence of the last Russian Emperor’s family before their exile to Yekaterinburg in 1917.
The federal history and culture monument will be reconstructed together with the historical landscape of Alexander Palace and its numerous buildings.
By the 300th anniversary of Tzarskoe Selo to be celebrated in 2010, the museum will have the Palace facades restored. The remaining works will start after the jubilee. The state budget has allocated more than 1 million dollars into the restoration works. Altogether the restoration of the initial view of the park and all its buildings will take five years. After that some entrance fee will be charged from visitors.
