The Benois Wing of the Russian Museum opens the most complete retrospective of works by artist Pyotr Konchalovsky.
The exhibition presents works from the collection of the Russian Museum and the Tretyakov Gallery. Besides, the public will for the first time see Konchalovsky’s works earlier kept by his family. The exhibition is focused on Konchalovsky’s creations of the 1910s. The works of that period combine influence of postimpressionists and traditions of the Russian folk art.
Along with painting Konchalovsky worked much as a theatre artist and a book graphic illustrator. During 60 years of his activity Konchalovsky created over 2 thousand canvasses.
The exhibition runs till July 15.
