Egorov graduated from the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory in 1975. In 1974 he won the Grand Prize and Gold Medal at the International Schumann Competition in Zwickau, Germany. Since then he has performed extensively in Russia and abroad. In 1980, he was invited to teach at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory, where he is currently serving as professor of piano.
