The Turgenev Public Library in Paris, which contains mostly Russian books, is celebrating 125 years since its foundation. An exhibition devoted to this event has opened in the Russian National Library in St. Petersburg. The exhibition started with a presentation of the book “The Turgenev Russian Public Library – Workers, Friends and Admirers.” The Russian library in Paris was founded with active participation of the great Russian writer Ivan Turgenev. At present, it collection consists of 60,000 books and magazines. Within all these years, the library has played an important role in cultural ties between Russia and France.
