St. Petersburg,s State Hermitage was named the best museum in the world by users of the travel web-site Trip Advisor. The winners of the Traveler,s Choice Awards were selected based on the numerous reviews and opinions from travelers around the world. The Hermitage won with almost 2,000 users rank it as excellent. About 2,500 travelers wrote reviews about the museum on Trip Advisor and more than 1,000 people published their photos from there. “Trying to see everything that the Hermitage has to offer in one day is impossible. The sheer beauty of both the building and the art and artifacts it holds makes the task overwhelming. The second place was given to the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City and the third in the list of 25 winners in total became the Art Institute of Chicago in Illinois. The Hermitage is known as one of the largest and the oldest museums in the world, founded in 1764 by Catherine the Great. More than 2.5 million tourists visit it every year to see and enjoy its art collection.
