Tatyana Parfionova accessories in the State Hermitage
In 2000, partnership between the State Hermitage and Tatyana Parfionova Fashion House has begun. Tatyana will produce collection of unique and beautiful fashion accessories patterned after museum works.
Today, the Hermitage possesses the largest collection of Western European art; a cultural heritage that is best represented through its most prized pieces. Along with the mastery of Tatiana Parfionova, the Hermitage collection offers an inexhaustible source of material and artistic inspiration.
As a precursor to such a promising partnership between Russian museum and Russian fashion house, it is right to take a moment and address to the work of a Russian master, Vassili Kandinsky. It is Kandinsky’s artistic style and visual language - already recognized as twentieth century classics - that offer a common frame of universal meaning and experience for all.
The presentation of the project consisted of a demonstration of scarves using "quotations" from the painting entitled "Winter» and autographs of the artist, as well as an especially designed collection made up of ten individual pieces.
Double-sided, rectangular and trapeze scarves create canvas made from taffeta and crepe-moroccan which suggests associations with Kandinsky’s style.
Every unique piece is made up of bright colorful blocks and decorated with double-sided embroidery (a technique which is elaborated and patented by the fashion house).
The pieces are also made within the traditions of Russian vanguard associated with the beginning of the century as well as borrowing from the latest fashion trends.
The presented collection is a bright demonstration of how, on the basis of one work of art, an entire range of expressive and distinctive pieces can be fashioned.
